The Department of Pediatrics at Queen’s University invites applications to fill one Geographical Full Time (GFT) General Pediatrics position to join the existing seven members in the Division of Acute Care and General Pediatrics. The division provides general pediatric care for children and youth in Kingston and Southeastern and Northern Ontario and collaborates with multiple subspecialists in the department.

The Department of Pediatrics at Queen’s University is a vibrant place for the delivery of outstanding clinical care, education, research, and advocacy for children and families. The clinical care is provided at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre, a tertiary academic center that serves the needs of communities in Southeastern and Northern Ontario. The department supports a strong Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)-accredited pediatric residency program.

The potential candidate is expected to assume care duties in general pediatrics as well as Level 2 pediatric critical care and will join the hospitalist team. Additional responsibilities include urgent care provision at the Children’s Urgent Care Center. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive family-centered care including general pediatric and subspecialty care including level 2 Pediatric critical care. They will develop, implement, and monitor individualized patient care plans and conduct daily rounds with a multi-disciplinary team and collaborate with multiple health care providers including pediatric subspecialists. Additional desirable qualifications/skills could include: POCUS, emergency medicine/acute care or child maltreatment. The specific mix of clinical duties will be determined based on the successful candidate.

The successful applicant will provide clinical teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and provide regular feedback and mentorship to trainees. Applicants need to demonstrate evidence of the ability to work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment through their letter of application or references.

Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree (or equivalent), have completed postgraduate qualifications in general Pediatrics prior to appointment, and have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
