CLINICAL CONTRACT ADVERTISEMENT

The Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University is seeking a pediatric emergency physician for a 12- month renewable full-time (FTE 1.0; twelve 9-hour shifts per month) clinical contract with a part-time academic appointment. The start date for this position is July 1st, 2025, but negotiable and with the potential to pick up shifts before July 1st. McMaster University is an internationally recognized institution known for innovations in medical education and simulation as well as pioneering biomedical, epidemiological and health systems research.

McMaster University is affiliated with McMaster Children’s Hospital (MCH), the pediatric regional referral centre for a population of more than 2.3 million in south central Ontario. MCH has 150 acute care beds and a full range of specialized inpatient services. The pediatric emergency department at MCH currently serves over 50,000 patients annually and is the region’s pediatric trauma center as well as a Schedule 1 mental health facility.

Pediatricians and emergency medicine physicians with pediatric emergency medicine fellowship training and outstanding clinical skills and a commitment to academic success are encouraged to apply. The Division is committed to a model of integrated academic practice, where the clinical mission of delivering high-quality care concurrently supports educational and clinical research initiatives. Current research themes in the division include quality improvement, simulation, point of care ultrasound, knowledge transfer and medical education.

Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario.
